About Us

The Great War Living History Committee was established in 2014 and seeks to honour Newfoundland's & Labrador’s contribution to the First World War with a primary focus the Bonavista Peninsula. We are a small not-for-profit living history organization dedicated to the remembrance and preservation of this period in our history - lest we forget. Our committee is comprised of individuals with a strong interest in history and some also serve as volunteer interpreters portraying soldiers of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment.

We provide education on this important part of our collective history in an interactive manner while honouring those who served. Some believe history is a boring subject but we wholeheartedly disagree. We endeavor to make history and learning fun. Therefore, you won’t see dividing ropes or artifacts that are off limits to being handled at our events! Of course all artifacts are handled under the direct supervision of our interpreters.
