Lest We Forget

Although this website has a special focus on the Great War and the Bonavista Peninsula (our home region) it is dedicated to all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians that have served, in any capacity, both past and present.

In 1918, Newfoundland adopted the blue Forget Me Not as our symbol of remembrance to wear on Memorial Day (July 1st) to recognize those brave young Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who fought and died in The Great War. The Forget Me Not preceded adoption of the Poppy (1921) by three years and this emblem was pinned much the same way that the Poppy is today. As part of our remembrance efforts we support the use the Forget Me Not emblem.
